Travel To Portugal

From the UK: There are a few main airports in Portugal. Faro airport which serves the Algarve area and then Lisbon airport which has international flights as well. Check the Portuguese airport website for which UK airport is nearest to you.

Travelling in Portugal

Car: As with most countries renting a car can be rented from airports and also in some bigger cities. There are many rental companies, so the best option is to look around and see what each company includes and where there pick up and drop off locations are.

Public Transport: When we were in Portugal we didn’t use public transport as we explored on foot and used our rental car. Train travel in Portugal is not as fast as other European countries but you can get between major cities and even from the North to the South within 5 hours.

Taxis: Taxis can be found outside airports and in the major cities (waiting outside train stations etc) As with most places you can pre book taxis too.
