Must Have Essentials When Travelling With Babies

Don’t know about you but when we have travelled with our boys as babies, it looked like we had took everything with us including the kitchen sink. You can always feel a bit overwhelmed going away on holiday, especially if you are like me and you have been left to pack for everyone in the family. So, whether it be a long haul flight or a car trip somewhere your list of things to take can feel never ending. With that in mind here are our must have essentials for when travelling with babies (age 0 to 1)

Somewhere to Sleep

If you are thinking of taking a travel cot there are many available on the market; from pop up ones to ones that are slightly bigger. If going to a hotel or B&B type accommodation you could always ask if they have one available which will mean you don’t have to take one with you. Tip: When booking a cot make sure to check the accommodations definition of a cot. As a cot in some countries is a Z-bed (fold away camp bed)

Something to Eat

Okay, if you breast feeding then this wont matter too much. However, if bottle feeding then remember you will need enough formula and bottles with you. We always take our steriliser with us (its a cold water one) and then take sterilising tablets with you which means you can keep everything clean for your baby. Only problem is that all this stuff can take up a great deal of space in your luggage. Tip: you can buy sterilising bags which come in handy for travelling and space is tight.

Somewhere to Sit/Relax

So during your holiday you will need somewhere for your baby to rest while you are out and about. This can be a pram or a baby carrier. We usually take both and it means we can swap about during the week and leave the pram at the hotel one day if needed.

Babies Over 6 months

If your babies are on solid foods then a travel seat may come in handy especially in restaurants. We have encountered on many occasions places either having no high chairs or they have ran out. So a travel highchair may be handy if you just want to sit down and get your child straight to the table.
