Check With Airline If Flying
If you are going to be flying, then check with the airline to see what their limitations are. Some airlines require a doctors note if you are flying after 28 weeks pregnant.
If you are taking prenatal vitamins or any medication then make sure your take enough with you. If going travelling for a long time then check to make sure if you can get the medications in the country you are visiting.
Make sure you have travel insurance and check what it covers you for. Some policies don’t cover pregnancy
Flying or Driving
Whether flying or driving make sure you are getting up to walk around or stopping frequently and having a rest. Staying still for long periods is not good when travelling while pregnant
Wear comfortable clothing, and shoes. Make sure you don’t sit for too long (see above) especially if you have SPD. From experience the pain can be unbearable either way but it will become worse if you stay still for too long.
Stay Hydrated and Fed
Staying and fed while travelling will give you the energy you need. If you have morning sickness eat little and often.
Don’t Travel If Necessary
We all want a break away once in a while, but you don’t want to overdo it. Try not to travel long haul if needed. A staycation can be just what you need and you can be close to home in case something does happen.
