Travel Memories #1: Canada, 2006

Welcome to Travel Memories! This is our first week and we are hoping every week to post a photo from our past travels (before children included) that makes us smile and remember the moment. We love taking photos of our travels (especially me – Sam) so we thought we would start this little series and see where it takes us. Memories are so special and when we forget we can look back at all our photo albums and know that there were happy moments which we can cherish.

Our Travel Memories
Bit of background info first, this picture is from when I (Sam) went backpacking around the USA and Canada with my older brother (who sadly passed away in 2011) back in 2006 (between April and July) I honestly cant believe its been nearly 10 years since we spent 3 months exploring on our trip. This picture was taken on a day trip from Vancouver to Grouse Mountain. We managed to catch the local bus to the bottom of the mountain and headed up in the cable car to the top. After watching the lumberjack show at the top of the mountain we decided to go for a walk and explore. We followed one of the paths which lead to this beautiful lake. It looked so pretty that I had to take a picture (much to the disappointment of my brother – think I took far too many pictures for his liking!)  It was so peaceful and beautiful that I didn’t want to leave. We then continued our walk along the path, though we were met by some snow blocking the path, so we followed other people going off the track and through the trees to go back to the main building which has the restaurant in it.

Do you have a favourite travel memory? Feel free to share, we would love to hear from you.
